What does '팀 나누기' mean in Korean variety shows?

팀 나누기 (tim nanugi) literally means team-splitting. Korean uses the verbal noun ending -기 to turn any verb into a noun-like activity: 나누다 (to divide) becomes 나누기, 먹다 (eat) becomes 먹기. 팀 나누기 names the moment a variety-show host or a teacher tells contestants to form groups, the launch-pad scene of countless K-variety episodes.
