What does “facturar el equipaje” mean in Spanish?
The verb facturar usually means “to invoice” or “to bill someone.” But at an airport it means something else: to hand your bags to the airline so they travel in the hold. So facturar el equipaje means “to check in your luggage.” This use is most common in Spain; in much of Latin America people say documentar el equipaje instead.
From the clip: Necesito facturar mi equipaje (“I need to check in my luggage”). A traveler who only knows facturar as “to bill” can get confused at the counter. Useful airport partner phrases: tarjeta de embarque (“boarding pass”) and puerta de embarque (“boarding gate”).
