Het Concertgebouw (“The Concert Hall”) is one of the world’s most acoustically-praised concert venues and a Dutch national institution since 1888. The neoclassical building on Amsterdam’s Museumplein houses the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), routinely listed among the world’s top three orchestras. The Grote Zaal seats 1,974 listeners, and the Kleine Zaal hosts chamber and recitals. Tickets are heavily subsidised, with weekly lunchconcerten free for the public. Dutch musicians like Reinbert de Leeuw, Janine Jansen, and Frans Brüggen shaped the building’s modern identity; international guests include Mariss Jansons, Bernard Haitink, and Daniel Barenboim.
