How happy are Dutch people, according to the World Happiness Report?
The Netherlands consistently ranks among the world’s top-five countries in the World Happiness Report, the annual UN-affiliated study that asks respondents in 140+ countries to rate their lives on a 0-10 scale. Dutch averages typically land between 7.4 and 7.5, behind perennial winners Finland and the Nordics. The data is gathered via Gallup World Poll surveys and weighted alongside GDP, life expectancy, social support, freedom, generosity, and corruption metrics. Dutch researchers at Erasmus Universiteit run a parallel project, the World Database of Happiness, that tracks subjective wellbeing internationally.
