What does the word “sibling” mean?

A sibling is your brother or your sister. The nice thing is that one word works for both. You do not need to say “brother or sister.” You can just say sibling. A boy sibling is a brother. A girl sibling is a sister. The plural is siblings. You can say, “I have three siblings.” This is a useful word when you do not want to say the gender, or when you mean brothers and sisters together.

In the clip, the children all have many siblings. One girl is asked, “Who’s your favorite sibling out of all 15?” So this family has 15 children. Each child picks one favorite brother or sister from the group.
