What does “canneberge” mean in Quebec French?

Canneberge is the Quebec word for cranberry. The fruit is native to North America, so when European French settlers met it they coined a French name (likely calqued from a regional word for the same berry). Continental France mostly says cranberry now, lifted straight from English. Quebec held the older French form, the way it held fin de semaine over weekend and courriel over email.
