What does “mirador” mean in Spanish?

Every city in the Spanish-speaking world seems to have its mirador — the lookout you climb for the postcard view. The word is mirar (“to watch”) plus -dor, the ending Spanish uses to name the place or thing that does the action. Spot the pattern once and you can decode signs everywhere: comedor (the eating place, dining room), probador (fitting room), asador (grill).
