What is “vos hacés” in Argentine Spanish?
Hacer trampa means to cheat (at games, exams, anything with rules — trampa is literally a “trap”). What makes vos hacés trampa a great Rioplatense moment is the verb shape: where most learners are taught tú haces, Argentina and Uruguay use vos with a stressed ending — hacés, tenés, querés, podés. Same meaning, different accent and conjugation. Spot the accent on the final syllable and you’ve spotted the voseo.
Voseo present-tense forms drop the -i- diphthong and stress the last syllable: tú piensas → vos pensás, tú puedes → vos podés. The clip is a shell-game (“find Messi under the cup”) between siblings, and the accusation vos hacés trampa, ¿eh? (“you cheat, huh?”) is pure playground Rioplatense — the ¿eh? tag is itself a regional tell.
