What is a Dutch “kringloop”?

Kringloop literally means “cycle” or “loop,” but in everyday Dutch it’s the standard word for a thrift shop. Kringloopwinkels sit in nearly every Dutch town and large city, and most are run by social-economy nonprofits that double as job-training programs for people re-entering the workforce. The network is dense, the prices are low, and donating is the Dutch default for outgrown clothes, surplus furniture, and end-of-life household goods. Going naar de kringloop is its own verb-phrase routine.
