What are “flødeboller” in Danish?

Among three summer strawberry hacks, the standout uses flødeboller: «du tager nogle flødeboller, skærer toppen af» (“you take some flødeboller and cut the top off”). A flødebolle is a Danish treat: a thin wafer base, a dome of fluffy marshmallow-like foam, all coated in chocolate. The name means “cream bun.”

They’re a fixture of Danish children’s birthdays and fastelavn season, and biting through the chocolate shell into the soft middle is half the joy. Here they get stuffed with strawberry for a quick hygge dessert. Don’t confuse them with the savoury, doughy boller (bread rolls), a classic learner trap.
