What is “jeth ki dopahari” in Hindi?

जेठ (jeth) is the third month of the Hindu lunar calendar, falling roughly in May and June, when North India hits its most punishing summer heat. Temperatures can climb past 45°C, and the phrase जेठ की दोपहरी (“the afternoon of Jeth”) evokes that exact moment: the loo (a hot dry wind) blowing across Rajasthan, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, the streets emptying, everyone hiding indoors with a cooler (the North Indian household icon).
